Yesterday the weather was nice enough for us to play in the sandbox. My kids love the sandbox. It is such a mess, but they will stay and play in it forever. It has been fun to watch my kids grow and still enjoy this activity. I can remember 6 month old Cooper sitting on the back porch and digging with his little shovel. Now he is making mountains and telling me about his favorite things as he plays. I am so glad that I get to be their Mom and enjoy little moments like this.

Mammaw brought down her tiller for us. She had to show the boys “how it’s done”. Colby is excited about our garden this year and has extended it quite a bit. The kids love when it is warm enough to play outside. We really do love our backyard.
Colby’s grandfather’s cousin, Joyce and her husband, were in Lubbock for some doctors appointments and they got to spend an evening at our home. We had a yummy dinner and then headed outside to make some s’mores around the fire. Cooper loves s’mores! He would eat ten if I let him. We had a fun evening visiting and telling stories.

After we took pictures we went down by the lake to fly the kites Nana and Papa gave them for Valentine’s Day. It really was a perfect day to fly a kite. The wind was just right and we had no problem getting the kites up in the air. Cooper flew his like a pro. Ava got some help from Uncle Blaine and then she flew it for a while. As I was about to take the kite from her, she let it go and it got stuck high up in a tree. Then a gust of wind took it far away and we couldn’t find it. She didn’t mind much, she was just proud of herself for doing so well. I love my kiddos and I love living close to family!

This school year Cooper has been doing a in home preschool with three other friends. Each week they go to a different house and learn about a letter, seasons, math and so on. This past week it was at our house. we learned about the Solar System. The kids had fun decorating some sugar cookies like planets and stars. Cooper has really enjoyed preschool and looks forward to it each week. I can't believe he will be in Kindergarden next year. How can he be this big?!

While Colby was still on his Christmas break, we decided to make a trip to visit the “Red Dirt Farm” as Mammaw calls it. The first day there Colby had a little too much fun splitting some logs down at the creek. He enjoyed it, like really enjoyed it. He couldn’t wait to go do it again the next day. Sadly the weather cooled down and we weren’t able to stay outside for long because of the icy wind. We had fun inside and made a few trips out to visit the chickens. While feeding the chickens, a box flew in the cage. I asked Cooper to go inside and get it. He very hesitantly walked in. He did not take his eyes off the chickens. It was pretty funny to watch. Mammaw and I could not stop laughing.
Before we left, we got to spend another afternoon at the creek. Cooper discovered the grapevines and Mammaw showed him how to swing over the creek. He was having the time of his life until he took a hard fall. Then we had fun on the swing and chopped some more wood. We wish Oklahoma wasn’t so far away so we could visit even more!
Playing on the tracks.
